GHS Enhancer v6.0

Midship Section Calculator v6.1.02 & Earlier

Alert Date: 9/23/09, Updated 1/1/10

In MSC version 6.1.02 & earlier the Shape Editor dialog, which allows creation & modification of structural shapes, required the use of the [Enter] key to record edited values (or selecting a different edit field also worked). If you made an edit without pressing enter, then executed a menu command or pressed the calculate button, the command would have ignored the active edit session and act on the previously recorded values. This restriction may have been non-intuitive to some users, and has been removed in MSC version 6.1.03 & later. A description of other improvements may be found on the revisions page.

The structural shape library has been updated to match the AISC shapes database version 13.1.1. The following shapes in the old library (2009 & ealier) were known to have issues:

You may download the new shape libraries from here for English Shapes or Metric Shapes. We recommend deleting your old shapes library (all .shp files located in your shapes folder) before installing the new shapes to avoid duplications, although you may want to save any custom shapes you have made.

MSC version 6.1.05 includes a new program titled MSC Shape Library Scanner for scanning your shape library for inconsistencies. This tool may be used with all versions of MSC. To work properly, MSCSLS.exe must reside in the same folder as the MSC program.

Midship Section Calculator v6.0.00 - 6.1.03

Alert Date: 10/13/09, Updated 1/1/10

The Shape Editor dialog, which allows creation & modification of structural shapes, has the capability to calculate Ixy property values based on shape outlines. A bug introduced in MSC v6.0.00 caused Ixy values to be correct only when the units were set to inches in the dialog. This has been corrected in MSC version 6.1.4 & later.

To check your shapes library for problems, download and run the MSC Shape Library Scanner. This may be used with any version of MSC to compare and correct mismatches between outline properties and stored properties. To work properly, MSCSLS.exe must reside in the same folder as the MSC program.
