Why Study Daniel?

    • It is possible to live a life without compromise.
    • God's Wisdom is far superior to man's wisdom.

See Background

    • 2 Chronicals 36:14-211

The Hebrew Names Testify to Yahweh (Jehovah)

"el" = God

"(J)ah" = form of Yahweh

The new names after the Babylonian Deities

Are names really that important?

  • Rev 22:3,4: "The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads".
  • Phil 2:9,10 "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

 What's wrong with the King's Food?

    • It was the custom of the king to offer his food to idols before it was eaten. Daniel viewed the eating of the food as the first step to spiritual compromise.
    • The diet would have contained food that was considered unclean or prohibited under Levitical law.

Inspite the judgement and their young age; Daniel and his friends kept themselves consecrated unto God even in the little things.

1 Samuel 2:30b God Say's ".....those who honor Me I will honor"
