Knitting and Weaving Workshop

Weaving?

Sisu Designs started out as my weaving studio.

Sisu Designs had its start as my weaving studio.  I had (and still have) an old Union rug loom (for weaving rag rugs) and a brand new Macomber loom.  One of my favorite things to weave has always been rag rugs, although I've also woven with rags to make other items such as bags, pillow coverings and wall hangings, and I've woven rugs with wool yarn.  I've woven fabric using wool, cotton, or linen for clothing, towels and table linens, and I've woven wall hangings and church banners.  At one time I also did some Navajo weaving on a frame loom.

I own, use and sell Glimakra looms which are made in Sweden, and Schacht looms which come from Colorado.  In addition, I can supply you with shuttles, bobbins, swifts, stretcher bars and other essential tools of the trade.  You can also come here to learn how to weave.  I offer various choices, depending on your level of interest and how much time you have to be here.  At the simplest level, I offer "sit down weave off" projects.  For these, I will plan a project, make the warp, dress the loom, and have everything ready for you to come in, sit down, and weave off one or more pieces which either you or I can finish.  At the other extreme, you will do it all, from the planning and warping to the weaving and finishing - all with my help, of course.  Let me know what you're interested in, and we can work out a project suitable for you.  Next thing you know, you'll be wanting your own floor loom!
