Membership is open to Healthcare Practitioners in the 60 southern-most counties of Illinois. Annual Membership dues are $30 for Physicians and $30 for Associate Membership dues for Physician Assistants, Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners. There is an
annual meeting held on a
Thursday in November
each year. At the annual meeting we present a Favorite Son/Daughter Award to a
person from Southern Illinois who has made an outstanding accomplishment
to Medicine and/or Humanity. Dues are 100% tax deductable as SIMA is not involved
in lobbying. Any additional funds over our organizational and meeting
expenses go into a medical student
loan fund.
For those interested in Illinois and National politics, and we all should be as it affects our patients' ability to obtain health care and physician retention in and attraction to Illinois, SIMA would suggest joining a Political Action Committee, S*M*A*S*H.
