CHAPTER
18 — P. S. |
It may be tonight or a long time from
now, but one of these days it’s just possible that you will be almost asleep
and you’ll hear a voice outside your window, saying, “Clucka! Cluck! Cluck!”
And maybe Choosy Chicken will recite The Choice Poem to you and take you on an
adventure in The Land of Choice.
Maybe you’ll find that you are alone, or someone may share your adventure, a
friend of yours, or a brother or sister — if you have one.
Perhaps Choosy Chicken will think you are an excellent chooser. If so, your
travels in The Land of Choice will be speedy and pleasant. If you’re not a good
chooser, your travels will be hard and slow.
Think about what Tammy and Tommy learned about making good choices and put
those ideas into practice many times every day. And that’s true, whether or not
you ever hear Choosy Chicken say, “Clucka! Cluck! Cluck!” outside your window.
Remember, it’s your choice how you live your life, for —
Now as you can plainly see,
You choose what to do and what to be.

For Chapter 18 the Big Idea is: We can plan ahead to make
better choices with the people who are important to us.
Children and grownups alike may make OD choices with the people who are
important to them, and “save” their really OK choices for people they hardly
know. It’s almost as if they believe there is some kind of limit on how many
positive choices they can make. The truth is, the more positive choices we
make, the more positive choices we can make — we improve in our choice-making
skills.
Think about the two or three people who are most important to you in your life
and decide on some positive choices you could plan ahead to make when you see
them next.
Think back on all the Big Ideas from IN THE LAND OF CHOICE and plan to STOP,
THINK, and CHOOSE often, to make your life better.
