It started with a taxi from the hotel to the race, when I arrived at the bottom I knew instantly that this was way bigger
than any race to date. The shuttle ride to the top was a scary ride, badly cracked road with lots of humps and bumps on a
very steep grade, with the first turn on the fastest section close to 50 mph, this sweeper right hander had some knarly bumps
as you set up for the turn then a bunch of badly cracked pavement throughout the turn, it was hard to find a line that didn't
intersect with bad pavement. After that the grade lessonds a bit but if you carry your speed through the corner you don't
loose any speed, at the end of the strait after you start hanging a left hander there is a big hump that kicks out your
board so badly that many where not able to gather it back in, the rest of the turn is fairly smooth now its time to set
up for the finish turn which is the other max speed area on the course, it is a tight right. The set up for the turn is rough
as hell then the turn goes to off camber and get very tight at the finish line.
I started my day lining up with Chaput, Danny Conner, Misho Erban for our first Qualifier run. As usual from the back
at the start we headed down toward the first right. I passed Misho and Danny Connor at the same time just before the corner,
then when I was laying the corner I hit a bad crack and couldn't recover and crashed hard into the Hay. At this point
I thought my confidance my be a little rattled, but off to the next Qualifier, I believe it was myself, JF Boiley, Misho,
and Danny Connor again. Starting from the back again I started realing in the group, I Passed only one in the first corner
skated it clean, then picked off the next 2 riders in the strait before the next corner and skated the rest clean and finish
with a 50 yrd. lead. Ok my canfidance is alright now,
