Adjust Preferences & Virutal Memory

By clicking Adjust Preferences & Virutal Memory you will accomplish the following steps:

• Select Search from the charms bar by moving the mouse all the way to the upper-right of the screen.
• Type systempropertiesadvanced
• Click systempropertiesadvanced
• Under the Advanced tab, in the Performance section, click on the Settings button.
• Under the Visual Effects tab, disable all unnecessary options. You can keep the following options enabled:
• Show thumbnails instead of icons
• Show window contents while dragging
• Smooth edges of screen fonts
• Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop
• Click Apply



• Click the Advanced tab.
• In the Virtual Memory section, click the Change button.
• Uncheck "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives".
• Place a dot next to Custom size.
• Set both Initial and Maximum fields to 1.5 times the amount of actual RAM that is in the computer (with a minimum value of 1024).
• Click OK
• Click OK
• Click Apply
• Click OK
• Click OK
• Click Restart later
