Set Unneeded Services to Manual

By clicking Set Unneeded Services to Manual you will accomplish the following steps:

  • Select Search from the charms bar by moving the mouse all the way to the upper-right of the screen.
  • Type services.msc
  • Click services.
  • Click Services from the folder tree on the upper-left side of the page. Here you will set unnecessary services to Manual.

NOTE: Always remember to set the service to MANUAL, never disable it. The reason for this is that whenever Windows needs to start the service, it can easily start and use it. If you set any of these services to DISABLED, Windows will not be able to start the service and this can cause System Errors.

Here is a list of Services that can be safely set to MANUAL:

  • Application Experience
  • Diagnostic Policy Service
  • Distributed Link Tracking Client
  • Offline Files
  • Remote Registry
  • Secondary Logon
  • TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service
  • Windows Error Reporting Service
  • Windows Media Center Service Launcher
