Dinner At Cowboy Dinner Tree

Thursday night, we had dinner at Cowboy Dinner Tree in Silver Lake, a rustic
location amidst the sagebrush of Southeastern Oregon!

The Cowboy Dinner Tree Gang - Seated front row:
Pauline A, Jan S, Judy D, Paula S, Anita N,

Elle (guest); Standing back row: Dale A, Frank G,

Sunita (guest), Cassidy (guest), Dianne G, Bill L,

Juanita L, Red (guest), Dennis S, Jerry S,
Terry D, Judie R, Joe R, Larry N

Ride 'em cowboy! Larry N rides off through
the sagebrush on his make-believe horse!

The rustic furnishings inside the Cowboy Dinner Tree made us feel like we really were "Home on the range!"

Finally, we're seated at the table! Jerry S,
Paula S, Elle (guest), Dennis S, Jan S, Judy D

A peek at the homemade biscuits in the kitchen -
they were as good as they look!

The food is served! This is the main course after soup, salad, and biscuits! The whole chicken on the left provided
meals for the next few days; the 32-oz steak on the right became the best stew ever after we had all we could eat!

Riding The Rails At Train Mountain

Saturday, we boarded this one-eighth scale miniature
train at Train Mountain and "rode the rails" over
hills, across bridges, and through tunnels
on 13 miles of track scattered over 2400
acres of beautiful countryside!

All Aboard! Joe R is "ready to roll" as soon as the
engineer arrives. The trains were long enough to
hold over 20 people. We wondered how those little
engines could pull us all up and around the hills?

View from the back of the train as we go into the woods!

Bob G, Shirley G, John S, and Elaine S enjoying the ride.
Seating was on comfortable "boat" seats!

The engines were exquisite in every detail as shown
by this diesel locomotive!

The steam engines were the favorite as they
steamed around the track!

Another view of the steam engine with a switch
engine in the back. Note the detail on the cars!

The locomotives look pretty realistic until
you see the engineer sitting astride them!

The scenery was beautiful and varied as we traveled around the tracks!

These cabooses on the bluffs above the tracks
provide private accommodations for members

One of the many tunnels we went through along
the tracks. This one reminded us of the "Old West!"

We stopped for lunch under the trees along
the tracks. Here Bob G, Pauline A, Dianne G,
Shirley G, and others enjoy their lunch!

We passed by our trailers parked in the small Train
Mountain campground several times!

Miniature scale buildings and towns were
scattered along the tracks!

A lot of imagination and time was required to
build these realistic miniatures!

This miniature service station complete with a scale motorcycle standing in front was one of our favorites!

This schoolhouse takes on perspective next
to Jerry S, Terry D, and Dennis S!

Bob & Shirley G stand next to the miniature depot!

Dale & Pauline A among the town buildings!
