EILEEN NAUGHTON Eileen Naughton, 86, fornerly of Iowa City, died Thursday
at the Solon Nursing Care Center.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 am. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in
Iowa City with the Rev. James Verba officiating. Burial will be in the
St. Michael's Cemetery in Holbrook. Visitation is Monday from 3 to 8 p.m.
at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City where a vigil
service will be at 7p.m.
She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Lost Nation, to Frank and Mary McAndrews
Carraher. She married Gerald Naughton on Nov. 23, 1937, in Grand Mound.
He died in 1958.
She earned a degree in education from the University of Iowa in 1971.
She taught in many school districts including Clear Creek, Iowa City,
Clinton and in Jackson County.
She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Naim Club and
the Dominic Club.
Survivors include eight sons, Dick and Randy Naughton, both of Phoenix,
Ariz., Jack, Tom and Joe Naughton, all of Iowa City, Dan Naughton, South
Gastonbury, Conn., Phil Naughton, Waterloo, and Don Naughton, Solon;
three daughters, Mrs. Sheryl (Pat) Murphy, Cedar Bluff, Mrs. Francine
(Mike) Abboud, Hanover Park, III., and Mrs. Theresa (Bob) Cozine, Iowa
City; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three
sisters and a granddaughter.
