I caught my first steelhead in 1967 from the Knife River in Minnesota. That started a lifelong love affair with Salmo mykiss. That first fish was caught on a fly rod using a yarn fly. I have used many methods of fishing for steelhead over the years. Still, the fly rod remains my favorite method to use to catch these magnificent fish.
January 29, 1999 marked another important day in my life. After a career that spanned nearly 37 years, I retired! I now have a little more time to pursue the mighty steelhead. I also have some time to put together this web page to share some flies, tips and anything else that might be of interest to someone chasing steelhead with a fly rod.
Enjoy
