Comments: These were another series of standard
gauge ex-Portland City & Oregon (1901-02), ex-Oregon Water Power (1902-07)
interurbans originally numbered 32-35. But, rather than being locally
built, these cars were purchased in 1901 from the Holman Car Co. of San Francisco.
They feature Holman's standard 5-window ends and are shorter than their
sisters of local design (PRL&P No's 1030-31), having ten-window sides.
They were originally used on the Oregon City Line, but ended their years
being assigned to a city division, PRL&P's Sellwood Line.
Retirement: All in 1933 except for No. 1035,
which was transferred to the Salem city lines in 1912. This car, renumbered
874 by the Southern Pacific (which acquired the Portland, Eugene & Eastern
lines in 1915) was transferred to their Willamette Falls Ry. at West Linn
in 1917 and retired in 1930.
Technical Notes:
These cars originally had wooden pilots, which were later
replaced with metal safety fenders (possibly in 1913 when such fenders were
installed on city cars).
All cars rebuilt to one-man operation in September, 1926.
In 1927 No.'s 1032, 1033 & 1034 received B27GE-1 trucks
and GE-218 motors. No. 1034's new trucks and motors were removed from construction
motor No. 1457 (also ex-OWP).
