Comments: These were ex-Portland Railway Company (first of that
name) cars originally numbered in the 40's and used on the Portland-Vancouver
run, hence their nickname.
Retirement: All listed as "temporarily out of service"
in 1917. Officially retired at the time of the Portland Electric
Power Company takeover in 1924. Still on the inventory in 1928, though
as "unserviceable." No note on actual scrapping date.
Technical Notes: Air brakes were added to all six cars
in this series in 1912. In 1913 they received Nelson safety fenders
along with most trolleys in town. Cars 95 and 97 were listed as having
GE K-10 controllers, instead of K-11's like the others (K-11 controllers
could handle 60 hp). This would point to the series arriving with
K-10 controllers and GE-800 motors, and
then being upgraded as new motors became available. |
