Numerical and Toolkit Conversions

Ever wonder how to go from metric to US with numbers and dimensions?  Well I've established a small chart below.

Numerical Conversions

Distance
1 kilometer = 3280.83 feet
1 kilometer = 0.6213712 miles
1 meter = 39.36996 inches
1 meter = 3.28083 feet

1 foot = 0.0003048009 kilometers
1 mile = 1.609344 kilometers
1 inch = 0.0254 meters
1 foot = 0.3048 meters

1 mile = 5280 feet
1 mile = 1760 yards
1 nautical mile = 6076.131 feet
1 nautical mile = 2025.377 yards

Weights
1 kilogram = 2.20462 pounds
1 pound = 0.4535924 kilograms

1 liter = 0.2641721 gallons
1 liter = 1.7435358 pounds

Speed
1 mile per hour = 0.8689762 knots
1 knot = 1.150779 miles per hour

1 kilometer per hour = 0.6213712 miles per hour
1 mile per hour = 1.609344 kilometers per hour

1 foot per second = 1.09728 kilometers per hour
1 foot per second = 0.6818182 miles per hour
1 mile per hour = 1.466667 feet per second
1 kilometer per hour = 0.9113444 feet per second

sorry no Mach, it changes with humidity, temperature, altitude, etc.

Toolkit Conversions

1) For weapons, the toolkit calculates in kilometers per hour
    A) Object range: [from Galen's FAQ slightly modified by Centurian][supplied from Vark's data sheets
         and references]

          Step1:
X = object's TWS range x 26000 ÷ object's final speed
         Step 2:  2X = Object Removal setting

2) TWS and RWS ranges are in nautical miles

3) For Aircraft speeds, use miles per hour.  Though it says knots, it is really miles per hour.  The way the game interprets the setting is as follows:
Setting (for example is 115) = 115 at sea level
In game it will be reduced to 99.93227 ~ 100

If the plane actually goes 115 knots then it should be set to 132.3396 ~ 132 and therefore it'll be reduced
    to 115

4) Weights are in pounds for all

5) 1 gallon of jet fuel, weighs 6.6 pounds [100 gallons = 660 pounds (for the settings)]

6) When a weapon explodes it ranges from 85% to 100% of the damage points it is set for
    Example (ship setting = 100)
When the missile hits the ship it can do anywhere from 85 to 100 damage points
thanks to Prima's Strategy guide for this tip

7) 660 knots in the game @ sea level is mach 1 (759.5144 ~ 760 mph)

8) Screen shots: press crt+alt6+shift+v [on the right side of the keyboard]
They will appear in RAW format.  Convert them to BMP using the toolkit, then convert the BMP to JPEG
    format (preferably)
    Q: Why JPEG?
A: Smaller in size, a 470 KB BMP can become only a 100 KB JPEG

You can also use the USNF View Program on the FA Downloads page.

9) Cheats

For cheats 1-3 hold down CTRL, ALT and Shift on the RIGHT of the keyboard, hold them down until you start flying and do:

1. Go to Single Mission. You can now play all campaign missions.

2. Go to create quick mission. You can now fly all planes including the Atomic Moth and the Quetzalcoatlus

3. Go to Pro Mission. You can now load any campaign mission and modify them in any way.

10) Horsepower conversion
      horsepower x 3.0 x 3.0 = thrust in lb.
