Pro Mission Creator Tip: Multi-wing Missions

It's been my experience of flying Multi-wing coops, which have all the friendly aircraft taking off from the same base, doesn't work very well. The problem is that most pilots are in a hurry to get airborne, and tend to take off every which way, in what I call a "Clusterf**k, sometimes causing a collision or 2. This wild disorganized manner of getting underway also leaves behind any AI wingmen that may be assigned to the wings.

If you want to apply multiple wings to a mission, I suggest you do one of two things.

Assign each wing to different bases to take off from. Place the wings above or near the base already airborne.

#1. Assigning wings to start from different bases, will expedite take off's and reduce the risk of chaotic disorganization. Remember that if you design a wing with more than two AC, the first two in the wing will start at the hash marks on the runway, while the rest of the planes will be parked back at the hangars. Now if those planes at the hangers happen to be AI controlled, they will use standard taxi and take off procedures. Meaning, that you will have to circle the base two or three times waiting on them, OR, the first two can leave without them and risk getting their butts blown out of the sky when they run into a fur-ball of bandits. Meanwhile the AI wingies are 30 miles back, trying to catch up, and are unable to help out.

The above may not apply to a wing of a helos, which do not need to use a running start for takeoff. I'm not sure about a wing of VTOL's though.

This can also apply to wings with several AC assigned to it.

#2. If you have to use one base to launch multiple wings from, start all, or all but one, airborne over or near the base. Let's say you've built a coop mission with MIGCAP, SEAD, and STRIKE wings. Go ahead and start the SEAD and STRIKE wings airborne and heading out on their sortie. The MIGCAP wing will have time to take off and catch up, as these AC are normally faster than the planes in the other wings and would probably be better located slightly behind the first two wings so they can monitor them by radar and cover their six's.
