William Galyean the Engineer

Engineering is an exciting career.  As a Professional Engineer, I worked as  a Structural Engineer, I was involved in the design and construction of many unique projects.  I was always designing something different.   I specialized in the design in hydraulic and water related structures and bridges.  Many of these structures have been dams, flood retaining structures and huge pump stations.  Many included gates weighing in excess of 200 tons.  Many had unique concepts which required travel to many parts of the United States. If you travel down the Ohio River you can see many of these projects. Many other projects for flood control contain recreation facilities for boating and fishing. There are located in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia.

I am a life member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers. Many of these activities involve encourging engineering careers for youth. I have assisted in Math Count Contests for youth, where schollarships are awarded. These are available in nearly every state. I encourage youth to consideration engineering as a profession. I am a past president of our local engineering chapter and past board of directors member of the WV Society of Professional Engineers. E-Mail Me   for additional Information
