One of the differences between the older electromechanical games and the newer solid state games is that the components of the EM's seem a bit sluggish by comparison. The flippers, sligshots and pop bumpers just don't seem to have as much oomph! There's a couple things that can be done to make the EM game quite lively.
Assuming that all the parts are in like-new condition, the easiest thing to do would be to switch a wire on the transformer. There is a low line voltage (low tap) and high line voltage (high tap) on the transformers. By switching to the high tap line the voltage will increase over 15%, and as a result so will the current to all the coils, making the components have much more power.
Another method which is more difficult and time consuming but results in even more power is to unwind some of the wire in the coil, as much as 10-20%. Again the result is a much more powerful coil driven component. This only needs to be done to flippers, pop bumpers and sligshots.
