8 Day Alaskan Mountaineering Course - June 9 to 21, 2011

In preparation for next years Denali climb, I spent eight days on the southeast fork of the Kahiltna glacier with an Alpine Ascents mountaineering class. Guides were Eric Larson and Mark Cionek. Classmates were Richard Bond, Cullen Cole, Steve Ferguson, Anand Kumar, Gabe McGowan, Siang Peng Oh, Raquel Reisinger, and Dave Resler. We flew to Denali Base Camp from Talkeetna with Talkeetna Air Taxi. We practiced roped travel, crevasse rescue, and ice climbing. I spent some time in Anchorage before and after; visiting the Anchorage Museum and riding the Tony Knowles bike trail (where I saw moose).
