New Hampshire - Mt. Washington - 6288 Feet - December 30, 2003 (attempt)
Sunday, December 28, 2003 - We left Gettysburg and drove for about 11 hours to North Conway, NH. Along the way we
crossed the Hudson River and could see the NYC skyline. We stopped at Salisbury, NH and had dinner at the Hungry Traveler
(best scallops in the world). We didn't see snow until we got into NH. We stayed at the
Nereledge Inn in North Conway. It was a very nice bed and breakfast.
Monday, December 29, 2003 - We went to the International Mountain Climbing School and met our guide, Ben Gilmore. He
helped us finish our outfitting and then we went to Willie's Slide to practice ice climbing.
Tuesday, December 30, 2003 - We climbed to Harvard Cabin, on Mt. Washington. It was snowing when we reached the cabin.
We pitched the tent and had dinner in the cabin.
Wednesday, December 31, 2003 - The weather report said the winds on the top of Mt. Washington were 60 to 80 mph. We
decided to bag it. We hiked back down and went to Cathedral Ledges to do some more ice climbing.
