New York - Mount Marcy - 5,344 Feet - June 25, 2007
Monday, June 25, 2007 - We arrived early at the Adirondack Mountain Club Loj. After about an hour of
hiking, we arrived at Marcy Dam. Some kids were playing with snakes at the dam. The hike became steeper from
here on. There were not too many people on the trail. There was one large youth group. One member of this
group took our picture on the summit. It was windy on the summit. We broke out the fleece jackets. We could
see the ski jumps in Lake Placid from the summit. It was a long hike back (15 miles round trip and 3000 feet).
We found a nice Italian restaurant in Lake Placid and had pizza.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007 - Mapquest came through again and found us a good route to Vermont taking us below
Lake Champlain and then back north to Burlington and I-89. We stopped at the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in Waterbury, VT.
The tour was $3 each. They gave us a small sample of the flavor of the day. Ben and Jerry's is on route 100. We continued
north on 100 to Stowe and camped at Goldbrook Campground. This was a nice campground with large sites, a pool, and laundry.
There was a good breeze and few mosquitos.
