VA, Harrison CO. (W)VA (area later Lewis Co.); received pension 1832 Lewis CO. (W)VA; d . 30 Jun 1853 Upshur Co. (W)VA; m. Oct 1796 Mary Pusse/Pusie/Pasel. Christopher's pension wa s suspended in 1836 when a witness affirmed he was a deserter.

b. 1755/57, Pennsylvania d. 30 June 1852/53 m. Mary Paul, October 1796, Augusta County, Vir ginia In the later part of 1777 Christopher McVany enlisted in Frederick County, Virginia, u nder Ensign Robert Mitchell and Lt. James Doren in a campaign against the Indians. Eventuall y the unit marched into South Carolina and near a place called Little Cove they found twent y British horsemen at a tippling shop. They killed two, captured fifteen, and three escaped . McVany's unit joined Morgan and was in the battle at Cowpens. He was granted pension on hi s application executed 7 August 1832 while residing in Lewis County, Virginia. FPA S15533; PI
