Notes: Killed by marauding Indians led by Tecumseh in present day Preston County,WV May 7,1792. Whe n the Indians raided the Waggoner cabin,John was working in a field.Tecumseh fired at him bu t missed.John was unarmed and ran to his cabin for a gun,but saw Indians in possession and ra n to a neighbor's for help. The Indians killed one child at the cabin and carried off Margare t,13 years old,12 year old Mary,six year old Peter and three unidentified children. Margare t and the three unidentified children were killed about a mile from the cabin and Elizabeth,M ary and Peter carried beyond the Ohio River
Margaret Bonnett, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth (Lorentz) Bonnett, was born about 1 757 and was killed by marauding Indians led by Tecumseh in present day Preston County WV Ma y 7, 1792. She married John (Johannes) Waggoner in Hampshire County VA in 1778. John, a son o f Wilhelm and Agnesa Waggoner, was born in Philadelphia County PA November 24, 1751 and die d in Lewis County VA about 1742, when his will was probated in that county.
When the Indians raided the Waggoner cabin, John was working in a field. Tecumseh fired a t him but missed. The Indians killed one child at the cabin and carried o ff Margaret, 13 year old Elizabeth, 12 year old Mary, six year old Peter and three unidentifi ed children. Margaret and the three unidentified children were killed about a mile from the c abin and Elizabeth, Mary and Peter carried beyond the Ohio River.
John married Susannah Richards February 19, 1799. Susannah born about 1782 and probably d ied before 1840. She was not mentioned in John's will, which was dated 1840. She was a ward o f John Runyon when she was married and was probably a daughter of either Arnold or Paul Richa rds, both of whom were killed by Indians in August 1782.
