0. Abstract

This page displays a 1916 article by William A. Moffett advocating the construction of very large warships. It certainly influenced the development of the Tillman Battleships. Senator Tillman entered this article into the Congressional Record on 21 June 1916. It was published in the August 1916 issue of "Sea Power" magazine, and perhaps in other publications as well.

2. Drawing

Mr. Zoltán Takács, (AKA "Tzoli") kindly drew the illustration below for me, based on the illustration in the Moffett article. Many thanks to him for his work on this project. His drawing differs slightly from the original, in that the original has two funnels and Tzoli's drawing has three. He believes (with some justification) that 3 funnels would be required for 250,000 SHP engines with 1916 technology.
