I am still living and working (at the
hospital) in Bethel, Alaska and loving it. This is my 8th yr out here.
I think we went straight from Winter and spring river break up to fall
this year. Warm sunny days (Bethel style) have been far and few between
but we make the best of all days-clouds included. Summer subsistance
fishing is wrapping up and berry picking season is cranking into full
gear. If it helps any of you feel better, gas in Bethel costs 5.97 per
gallon and diesel is 6.57 per gallon. Milk is 9.49 per gal and 12 pk
pop costs 11.49.

I am so sorry that I cannot attend the reunion, I would love seeing everyone again. I live in Orlando Florida (Celebration) and travel quite a bit for work and we are putting an addition & pool on our home that requires me to be here in August. It’s so great to see familiar faces in the pictures on the web site, even if they are just a little older! Say Hi to everyone for me! |

Hey Jodi and Jim, be glad you have hairs to count! I am currently bald
due to chemo. Don't get overly concerned every one, the cancer was only
stage 1 and the doctors are sure they got everything. I'm just doing the
chemo for insurance. I'm still teaching at Spanish at FHS and have had
some of your children and, dare I say it, grandchildren (gasp) as
students. Aren't we too young for that? Looking forward to seeing
everyone. You can get hold of me at
srtawach@gmail.com. Go Pretz!

Debbie Swalve | I don't have any grandkids yet but I do have a grandog named Duffy, does that count? Hello to everyone. I miss family and friends back in Freeport, but I sure didn't miss your winter! |

Debbie Boyer | Awesome job on the website. For those of us than cannot make it back for the reunion as I have not been able to do makes it a special treat. Got to see John Chapman when we took the kids to DC and saw him as we were walking across the street and it was such a hoot! After the 25th reunion, Kathne Hughes and Steve Steingraeber each called me and we had such a blast talking about the reunion. It is amazing how the fundamental school years always keep a special place in most of our hearts. Here is wishing everyone well. |

Kay Alden | Scott Brodnick lost his courageous 3 year battle with cancer on January 27, 2004. We are so glad that he was well enough to attend the 30th reunion and we were able to spend some time with him. I received an e-mail that a group of classmates went to see him last week and even through all his pain he still had his sense of humor and flipped the bird to Steenrod for a smart remark. Although we know he is now free of the pain, one can't help but feel a loss at his passing. | 02/03/2004 |
Jim Rosenberger | I just found out about this website. What a trip! I have a Pretzel Fans Club button on my bulletin board in Manhattan. For some reason, people think being a Pretzel is pretty funny. Go figure. Sorry we couldn't make the reunion. Maybe next time. - "Rosie" |

Marcia Coffey | After completing my Masters Degree in Social Work in August 2000, I took a job working as a medical social worker at Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital, in Bethel, Alaska. November 18, 2003 will be my 3 yr anniversary living and working in Bethel. Working in the resource poor Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta region has been an eye opening experience I will never forget and continue to enjoy. I apologize for not sending my comments sooner. I just received the notice about the 30 yr reunion, today (10-30-03). I am home in Freeport, for a visit with family and friends. Funny thing...seems like the first place I always wind up stopping is my dentist's office for necessary repairs and check-ups. My dentist happens to be Chad Reedy and he does excellent work! News from back home is always welcome. One of the things I enjoy most is when Dad sends a package from home and it arrives with old Frpt newspapers used for packing. I then spend the evening reading all the packing. |

Great job! A lot
of hours went into celebrating our 30th, and I for one appreciate your
time and efforts. I'm only in Rockford, so if I can help at all
with the 35th, I will.
