January 1973 President Nixon ends Mandatory wage and price controls. George P. Shultz, Secretary of the Treasury, announces a 10% devaluation of the American Dollar against the World’s major currencies. The militant American Indian Movement takes over Wounded Knee, South Dakota.

March 1973 James W. McCord admits, in a letter to Judge John Sirica, that he and the other six defendants have been under pressure to remain silent about the Watergate break-in. Patrick E. Gray, Director of the FBI, resigns after admitting he destroyed Watergate evidence. Scientists report rings of Saturn are composed of large chunks of matter.

May 1973 President Nixon announces a price freeze on all retail goods. Soviet Leader Leonid Brezhnev begins a series of talks with President Nixon. Testifiying before the Senate Watergate Committee, John Dean accused Nixon of involvement in the Watergate cover-up. U.S. Skylab goes into orbit.

July 1973 In the largest multi-murder in American History, David Brooks and Elmer Henley are indicted for killing 27 men over a period of 3 years. The U.S. offically halts its bombing raids into Cambodian Territory. In Watkins Glenn: 600,000 attend the biggest U.S. Rock Concert. Senate approves plan for the Alaskan Pipeline.

September 1973 Arab Countries invade Israel on its most important holiday and catches Israel by surprise to begin the "Yom Kippur War". Vice-President Spiro Agnew resigns. The Arab Oil-Producing nations declare and embargo on oil exports to the U.S. West Point ends the tradition of giving silent treatment to Honor Code Violators.

November 1973 Congress passes the War Powers Act against the President’s veto. Nixon addresses the nation on the energy crises in a television broadcast. The U.S. and Egypt announce resumption of diplomatic relations after a break that extends back to the 1967 war. Pioneer 10 reported Jupiter’s magnetic field is 40 times greater than the Earth’s.
