Debbie Wiens is a qualified dance teacher, professional dancer, gymnastic instructor and certified aerobics instructor. She began gymnastics at the age of 7, began dancing in her teens, which evolved into her acceptance in a contemporary dance company at Ball State University. In the winter of 1984, she began a 10-year working relationship with Youth With a Missions' Academy of Performing Arts in Cambridge, Ontario Canada. Her dance training and performance opportunities included tours to Belize, Finland, England, the Philippines, and Hong Kong. In North America, her extensive travels took her and her teams to the 1984 Olympics in L.A., 1986 Expo in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the 1988 Jr. World Games in Sudbury, Ontario. Debbie has danced in the various dramatic dance productions, worked as a team leader, choreographed shows, been the program director for youth teams, staffed performing arts camps, and served as a back up singer/dancer for rock and Hip Hop bands. During this time, she also received her certification as a fitness instructor through the YMCA. Other teaching experiences include Cambridge Theatre Dance School, (Cambridge, Ontario) Qui Danse Studio, (Cincinnati, Ohio), The Dance Center (Woodinville and Snohomish, WA) Continued training includes: Sinclair Community College, Dance Ad Deums' Summer Dance Intensive, (3x) and Spectrum at Madrona. She brings into the school a unique flare and love for dance which reflects her own life experiences and appreciation for beauty. |
