I have had a lot of fun learning about computers, html, and the Internet. Here are some of the many fun and helpful sites I have found- some of them are the ones I have used to create this page! Some are free, some shareware or commercial.
This is the Virtual University Check them out for on-line personal or continuing education classes! Certificates are available. This is where I learned HTML, and am studying Genealogy. Beginning in Jan 1998 there will be a small fee.
Tucows pronounced "two-cows", this is a major resource for finding programs for html, art, and other computer goodies.
CNET A great place to find updates, system tune-ups, freebies, and helpful magazine articles.
CoolList a way to set up your own mailing list- also a place to sign up for many specialized ones.
No Wonder FREE tech support for most OS and programs. It's staffed by volunteers, but a reply is promised within 24 hours. There are also discussion forums.
Is unfortunatly essential. I use Norton Anti Virus, by Synmantec. It is easy, automatic, and customizable. There are free monthly updates available by modem or Internet. It is about 80-90% effective (meaning no one is perfect). It uses both a master list of known viruses, and monitors your system for virus-like activity. It will give you notification, options, and keep logs. I find it easy to use.
