• Catholic Jesuit missionaries create mission among the Kalispels in 1844.

• In 1854 St. Ignatius Mission moved from NE Washington to the NW Montana.

• Tourist literature, newspapers, most historians say:

  • the Kalispels requested the move, and
  • the Kalispels pointed out the new location.
