• Devos sent an order to A. Hoecken to start the third mission in the Rocky Mountains among the Calispel, called St. Michaels Mission.

• Probably located around Albeni Falls.

• Father De Smet came to this site and recorded in his diary,

  • "I shall always remember with pleasure the winter of 1844 - 45, which I had the happiness of spending among these good Indians. … The Christmas of 1844 was, therefore, a great and glorious day in the Rocky Mountains
