Subject: Flavius K. Bowles Date: 12/30/1915 Source: Miamisburg News [Miamisburg Ohio] Researcher: Lester Wead A few years ago Major Bowles was one of the best known men in Montgomery county. For six years and six months he ably filled the position of Clerk of Montgomery county, and his genial, affable nature gave him large popularity and a wide circle of friends. Upon retiring from office he engaged in the real estate business and insurance business in Miamisburg and enjoyed a well-earned rest after the busy life of his early years. Flavius Kemper Bowles was born in West Carrollton March 19, 1844, and at his death was nearly seventy-two years old. In 1862 he enlisted in Co. E. Ninety-third Reg. O.V.I. and served honorably three years, being discharged June, 1865. He participated in the various battles in which the regiment was engaged, and was wounded at Chicamauga [sic] and also at Kenesaw Mountain. He was taken prisoner at Lexington, Ky. in September, 1862, but was paroled in December and again joined his regiment. [included two photos, presumably current and "a soldier in 1862"
