In the book, "Border Settlersof Northwestern Virginia" it states, pg 220, " Thomas Hughes, Ju nior, was bornabout 1754; settled on the awest Fork about 1775; was an active scout during th e entire border wars, and was Liutenant of aof Spie
s. He afterwards settledin Jackson County, West Virginia, where he died in October, 1837. H is wife died three months previous. Her name is unknown to me. They left one child, Thomas , born 1774, who was still living in 18
