There is a John Reed in the 1790 Washington Co. Maryland census, living need Charles Queen, f ather of Charles A., who moved to Upshur Co. There are several other Upshur and Gilmer Co. f amilies living in this area (now Glade Twp., Allegany Co.) in 1800, including the Marks and S nyders.

There is a Stephen Reed living near Martin and Benjamin Overfield in 1810, Loudon County. Ov erfields, including several Martins, settled in Barbour Co. and later Doddridge and Ritchie . The McKinney's lived in the community of Overfield, Barbour Co. Benjamin Overfield was i n Loudon Co. as early as 1774, when he signed a petition. Peter Overfield was already in Har rison Co. in 1810, near Samuel Overfield and William, Jonathan, and Peter Reed.

The Overfields were associated with Nutters, Marshalls, and Butchers.

There is also a Stephen Reid in Harrison Co. WV in 1810, near Jonathan Coburn, some Hickmans , and other early names, possibly on Hacker's Creek (no township listed). Perhaps Loudon Co . is the father and Harrison the son.

There are two Stephen Reeds in West Virginia in 1820, one in Harrison and one in Monongalia C o. These lists are alphabetical, so neighborhood is not determinable.

There is a marriage of
Daniel W. Dunbarr Polly Reed 20 Dec 1837 Harrison Co.
Stephen Reed signed the bond, with an X, similar to daughter Nancy's bond.. Unlikely two dau ghters nicknamed Polly in same family.
