Notes: Matthias Ulrich, Ulrich, Andreas,and Johann Adam Hirschmann arrived on the ship "Duke of Wirt emberg" from Rotterdam via Cowes, landed in Philadelphia on October 16, 1751 (on passenger li st 176-C). Matheus was on board (presumably sick) and did not sign the oath book. Matthias (M atheus) Hirschman, died on or before 10 Feb 1783, married Eve. Said to have had several wives , but Eve was his widow. He was a Dunkard. Matthias Ulrich is said to have had eleven childre n; no record has been found of additional children.

Moved from Böckingen to Gemmingen in 1717 with sister and parents (NW of Heilbronn in the Nec kar Valley); arrived in Philadelphia, PA 16 Oct 1751 on the "Duke of Wirtenburg" along with s everal family members; originally stayed in Lancaster, PA; went down the Monocacy River to MD , where he was a founding father of the Grossnickle Church of the Brethren in Frederick Co; t hen went to Augusta Co, VA, where the part in which he lived was made into Rockingham Co; liv ed on Patterson Creek, near Headsville, Hampshire Co, VA (now in Mineral Co, WV, just above t he mouth of Beaver Run, where he was a founding member ofthe Beaver Run Church of the Brethre n; Will of 1797 left all to Eva except one sterling shilling to each son. He had lived there on Patterson Creek, near Headsville, just above the mouth of Beaver Run. J une 13, 1801 issue of "The Philadelphia Repository and Weekly Register" carried the followin g obituary"-On the 18th ult.on Patterson's Creek, Hampshire County (Vir) Matthias A. Hersmon , a native of Germany, aged by most accurate counts 125 years. He lived on a low diet and dra nk but little spirits; had three wives in Germany and one in this country." He was 97years on e month however. This may also explain why the name Eve appears on land records and will. a f ourth wife has not been recorded Friedrich R.
