George Thomas McVaney, 26, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Williamstown, was killed Saturda y as a result of a ballooning accident in Charlotte. The hot air balloon in which he was ridi ng collided with high tension wires.
He was born in Marietta, a son of John C. and Sarah H. McVaney, Cincinnati. He was a compute r programmer for Digital Integrated Systems Corp. He was a graduate of Northern Kentucky Univ ersity and a member of St. Andrews United
Methodist Church in Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy McVaney; one brother, John C. McVaney of Cincinnati; and o ne sister, Susan B. McVaney, also of Cincinnati.
He was a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Crandall Hall and had several relatives in St. Marys.
Services were held Tuesday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Adam s officiating.
