From Charles Weidinger cweidi2014@aol.com:
My sixth great grandfather, youngest child of Robert and Mary Shaugh Hill, was born into ver y poor circumstances in Charles County, Maryland, and orphaned at a very early age. Later, h e became a well known land owner and farmer in three counties. By 1734, Henry and family ha d traveled north to Anne Arundel County, where "Henry Hill, Gent." purchased several tracts o f land. That year, he bought a 159 acre tract called "Folly's Point." On 10 June 1736, he bou ght a huge 621 acre tract he called "Hill's Delight." He may have sold these two tracts rathe r quickly, for on 4 May 1742, he bought a modest 95 acre tract he called "Hill's Second Thoug ht." There is back-handed evidence which asserts that his wife, Ann Truman, had died some ye ars before Henry passed away in 1773. His will makes no mention of his wife, but all his chil dren are mentioned, which revealed the names of his daughters as well as his sons. This gene alogy concentrates on Henry's son Robert Hill. His other sons were well covered in the writin gs of Lycurgus Perry Hill, Jr., which the author painstakingly transcribed from his hand-writ ten documents for the "Hill Families of America" web site operated by G. Byron Hill of Nashvi lle, Tennessee.

The first documentation of Henry Hill, the American patriarch of our family: Charles County C ourt and Land Records, A#2.208-209/ August Court 1701, Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin , Summer 1997, Vol. 38, No. 3. "Phillip and Henry Hill, orphans of Robert and Mary Hill, dec 'd; bound to Richard . . . slip to age 21years; Phillip being 11 years old next September, He nry being 8 years old last May ." This document proves that Henry Hill was born in 1693, no t 1695. From http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com Henry Hill's first land record is a lea se on Carollton Manor in 1744. Prince George County land records BB#1(1743-46) p. 185-86, 3/2 5/1744 shows lease of 100 acres of Carollton Manor from Charles Caroll Esq. to Henry Hill fo r 17 1/2 years. This would be in the vicinity of present day Buckeystown, Maryland. Henry Hi ll was farmer all his life. Most of his life he leased his farms, but in 1761, when his leas e expired, he bought 113 acres that was part of a larger manor called "Park Hall" , in Freder ick Co., MD. The "Park Hall" deed can be found in Liber G: folio 310 Frederick County, Maryla nd deeds. On November 19, 1762, Henry conveyed to his son John 63 acres of this 113 acre far m (Frederick Co. deeds, Liber H. folio 240). This left Henry with 50 acres which he bequeath s to John in his 1773 will. In 1777, this part of Frederick Co. was cut off and became Washin gton Co. This puts "Park Hall" in modern day Washington Co., Maryland. This is where Henry Hi ll spent his last days. No grave for Henry has been found. Henry Hill signed his will wit h a mark, indicating illiteracy. Since there is no mention of his wife, one would assume tha t she predeased him.

From Charles Louis Weidinger
Henry Hill died on 9 February 1773. He likely died in Frederick County, for his will was prob ated in the town of Frederick on 24 March 1773. His children were named in his will, which re vealed his daughters as well as his sons. This will led to my belief that Ann Truman Hill ha d died before Henry. She is not named in the body of his will. This belief is reinforced by t he writings of the late Lycurgus Perry Hill, Jr., and we had never communicated. Henry Hill' s final resting place has not been found. Both Henry and his wife Ann were likely buried on h is leased farm at Carrollton Manor. Henry and Ann had eight children recorded as follows:
Robert Hill II (1720-April 1795)
Joseph Isaac Hill (1722-1798 Kentucky)
Henry Truman Hill (1724-1799 South Carolina)
Phillip Hill (1727-1774 Maryland)
Thomas Hill (1728-1801 South Carolina)
Elizabeth Hill (c.1730-Unknown)
Catherine Hill (c.1732-Unknown)
John Hill (1735-1803 Ohio)
