I like the speed with which one can get information. I think email is great for saving time and snail mail postage. I get a kick out of Facebook, reading all the stuff going on in people’s lives. I am a troubled by what some folks write on Facebook, statements laced with profanity, or that glorify illicit activities. These are not strangers. They are people I’ve known from churches, youth groups, and church camps. So I thought rather than just fill my limited space with comments about whether I was in the office or not, or about how my day was going (not that there is anything wrong with that), I would try to be positive influence and type in quotes from my reading, or other sayings I’ve come across. I want to share some of those with you. You might be able to pass one of these along to someone who needs a word of encouragement. By the way, if we are not friends on Facebook yet, look me up. “God loves each of us as if there was only one of us to love.” – Augustine “Give all you can because no one ever saw a hearse pulling a U-Haul.” “To lead the orchestra one must turn ones back on the crowd.” “There is no right way to do the wrong thing.” “All I see teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.” “Good luck is a lazy man’s estimate of a worker’s success.” “Those who never retract opinions love themselves more than the truth.” “A star baseball player fails 70% of the time – do not let failure stop you.” “Teaching kids to count is good but teaching them what counts is best.” “Some minds are like concrete all mixed up and permanently set.” “A pessimist is a person who needs a swift kick in their can’ts.” “The key to failure is trying to please everybody.” I hope you find these interesting, thought provoking and useful. If nothing else they are an example of the freedom of expression we enjoy as Americans. I hope you have a happy Fourth of July. See you in worship, P. Rex IN THIS ISSUE:1. 4th of July parade 2. and lots of young people – over 80 youngsters attended. Many of them brought
a message of God’s love to the congregation, along with many of the songs they learned, on Sunday, June 21st. . Thanks
to everyone who helped. We had helpers for the classes, as well as preparing
snacks. Thanks also to all those who gave us monetary donations. Educating our young is not inexpensive, BUT IT IS WORTH IT! 3. KOINONIA CAMP Early on
Monday, June 22nd, Pastor Rex took five excited, apprehensive youngsters on the Church Bus to Camp Walter Scott
near Effingham, Illinois. The young people were set for an adventure, as most
of them had never gone to Church Camp before. Brian and Karen Gillespie served
as counselors, and Marcia Gillespie helped out in the kitchen for the week. The
young people appreciate the support of the congregation through financial aid, prayers and notes sent to them at camp. The youth
attending were Ryan Arnold, Alec Pilarte, Hannah Turner, Justin urban and Janel Westerfield. They returned
to Central on Saturday, June 27th, tired, ready to be home, but filled with the spirit of the Lord which they encountered
at Koinonia Camp. 4. CENTRAL DAY OUT Our day trip is July 15th, leaving the parking
lot at 10:00 a.m. for Hickory Grove in Jerseyville. Please sign up on the bulletin

Illinois Conference of Churches 13. A visitor to our website recently contacted us about a bulletin he found in an old Bible that came from Central. It was dated May 7, 1911, and contained the following announcement: “Some who sit in the back of the church complain that
they cannot see for the HATS obstructing the view. This can be overcome in two
ways. By those who desire to see occupying the front seats and by the practice
of the Golden Rule by the ladies.” 14. ATTENDANCE AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION:
