"Val-Co District wrestling update".
ALL Wrestlers,
Stat girls and students traveling to Districts will need to catch the bus @ YCHS @ 8:30AM Friday 2-13!!
Weigh in starts
at noon. Wrestling competition starts at 2:00pm.
Wrestlers competing In Districts
Please pay
Coach Klein $20.00 for lodging expenses before Friday's departure.
Wrestlers not competing
but traveling
to the district competition by bus will also be riding the bus home after Friday's competition
concludes.
The bus will
also provide transportation for the competing wrestlers to our Motel(ECONO-LODGE IN NEWPORT) after the conclusion
of competition Friday night.
Saturday
(2-14) parents will need to help transport wrestlers from
the motel to Toledo HS for the start of competition. If you are a parent providing transportation to wrestlers other than your own child, you
will need to fill out the necessary insurance paper work at YCHS prior to Friday 2-13. Even if you have previously
filled out the paper work during the Oregon Classics tourney, you will need to resubmit new paperwork with the appropriate
dates. Please be prepared to show proof of insurance and a valid drivers lic(Rodney, you had better go get
a license). If you are a parent of a district wrestler and your wrestler will be riding with somebody other than
yourself, you will need to make sure that you sign a form at YCHS allowing another parent to provide transportation for your
child. If this all sounds confusing just give our A.D a call and he can explain.
If you are a parent or a competing wrestler and would like to know what your son's bracket looks like just shoot
me an email and I will send you the bracket. The ony bracket I don't have is 215 and 275lb.

forget about the bottle and Can drive on Sunday 2-8 at 1:30pm at the YCHS parking lot.
2-5-04
YC
wrestlers came up in a big way tonight with a convincing
56-18 performance
over the Newport Cubs. This victory gives the YC tigers sole possesion of the Val-Co district dual meet championship.
YCHS students, parents and fans turned out in great numbers tonight to see our wrestlers finish off a great season
of dual meets. For 14 seniors it was their last home match. This was a great way to send them off to the
district championships in Toledo next week on 2-13 and 2-14.
See the "Results" section for your individual results.

Parents of
district wrestlers had a brief meeting following tonights meet to discuss lodging for the district wrestlers going to
Toledo. We are asking that each YC district wrestler donate $20.00 to the lodging fund. This should cover lodging
in Newport and possibly be sufficient funding for some snacks. We are also asking that parents, grandparents and students
bring in your returnable bottles and cans to YCHS Sunday Feb-8 @ 1:30pm.
Please
help by sorting your bottles and cans to make it easier to package for return. For instance seperate Safeway Select
brands from pepsi and sort bottles from cans, etc.
1-28-04
After the
duel against Taft tomorrow night we would like the parents of wrestlers going to district to hang around for a short
meeting to address lodging during districts in Toledo. Please gather up under the school mascot sign
in the gym after the meet is over.

title of 2004 Pac Rim Heavy weight champion. Congradulations Kyle Bowser. Blake Sitton earned himself the 4th place
medal at 171lb's. Will Lavish earned 130lb 6th place medal honors. Ryan Hoen earned 6th place medal at 189lb's. All
the YC wrestlers who participated did great. Thanks go to Kelly Sitton for collecting all the bracket information
and Rodney Sitton for sending it to me. Currently I am trying to figure out a way to get it all posted. If you

A special
thank you needs to go out to our YCHS Superintendent, Principle and AD for making this trip come together given
the circumstances. The extra effort on your part was really appreciated by all of the wrestlers and parents!
YC wrestlers
made it over to Redmond and back safely for the Oregon Classics. Thanks go out to Coach Klein, the Kings,
the Sittons, the Hoens and the Bowsers for driving the wrestlers over. Special thanks also go to
Becky Alfsen for making the trip and doing a great job as usual with keeping Stats .We could not have done it without you!
This tournament
normally has the largest amateur participation in the USA. Due to the weather situation this year there was a reduced
field of participants. However this did not reduce everybodies excitement for this great event. The organizers
of this event put on a great tournament.
There were
sixteen 3A schools in this years tournament. YC tigers first opponents were the "Outlaws" of Sisters. Yamhill
defeated the Outlaws 50-27. Next up were the Estacada Rangers. The Rangers were the number 1 seeds in this tourney.
The match of this dual had to be Blake Sitton(YC) and Marc Doran(Rangers). Blake is ranked 5th and Marc is
ranked 1st. Blake wrestled an excellent match but was unable to come away with a win after 3 tough rounds. The Tigers
struggled at all the lower weights against them coming away with a loss. Next up were the "Cheesemakers" from Tillamook. This
was one of the great come back dual meets in the YC wrestling programs history. The Tigers were
down 39-6 entering into the 152 pound match. YC's 152lb Russell McQuary got YC fired up with a pin.
This made the score 39-12. YC needed to pin the next 5 "Cheesemakers" to win and that is exactly what YC's Tigers
did. Keith Martin at 160lb won by fall. Blake Sitton at 171 won by Forfeit. Ryan Hoen at 189 won
by a Fall. Ryan Boyd at 215 won by a Fall and then big Kyle Bowser 275 did not disapoint and topped it all
off with another Fall at 275. YC pulled out the upset with a 42-39 win over Tillamook. YC had reason to celebrate
since this was the first time in the schools history to defeat the wrestling Cheesemakers of Tillamook. Great job YC
wrestlers. Word is out that Rodney will be buying some wrestlers Milkshakes with this win.
The win over the "Cheesemakers" put YC into the 5th-6th bracket where our next opponent were the Banks Braves. It started
out great with DJ Fair getting a first round fall but then the Tigers ran into a wall. Ryan Hoen's match against
the #1 3A 189lb Frank Ewing was the match up to watch. Ryan whos ranked 10th wrestled a great match but was not
able to hold on for the win. Kyle Bowser got yet another Fall against Banks. Final Score I belive was Banks 50
-YC 12? Next up is Philomath, Central and then it's off to Seaside for the Pac Rim Tourney.
New Photos
from the Classic are posted. Check them out! The resolution is low on this pictures but if you want a high resolution
copy just email me and I will shoot one your way. Low res pictures allow me to post many more than I otherwise could.
I have also
added a page named "Top Five". Coach Klein sends me the Top 5 wrestlers for 4 catagories. Check it out.
