For your convenience, you can have prescriptions mailed to you. If you are on a long-term medication, this will save you money. Prescriptions are delivered to your home in sealed, tamper-evident, discreetly labeled packaging. You pay no packaging or postal costs.
If you have a 3-Tier Pharmacy Benefit, the 3-Tier copay structure applies when you use Prescriptions-By-Mail. When you receive drugs at a retail pharmacy, you pay one copay for each 30-day supply. With Prescriptions-By-Mail, the copays are higher, but you pay only one copay for up to a 90-day supply. (See your benefit booklet for details.)
Sarah's benefit is $5/15/30 at a retail pharmacy and $10/30/60 using Prescriptions-By-Mail. She needs a 90-day supply of a Tier 2 drug for which there is no generic equivalent.
- A 30-day supply of the Tier 2 drug at a retail pharmacy has a $15 copay.
- If Sarah receives a 90-day supply of the Tier 2 drug using Prescriptions-By-Mail, she pays a single copay of $30.
- She can save $15 over 90 days by using Prescriptions-By-Mail ($45 - $30 = $15)
Prescriptions-By-Mail service is exclusively provided by Merck-Medco Rx Services. This is the only mail order program covered under your benefit.
You can order through Prescriptions-By-Mail three convenient ways. We recommend allowing two weeks for delivery, regardless of which way you choose. It is best to order your refill well in advance of when you need it.
(New and Refill prescriptions) Have your practitioner write your prescription on the special mail-in prescription form. Special pre-addressed envelopes are available for you to mail in the prescription. For assistance in getting started or to request envelopes, contact the Customer or Member Service number on the back of your ID card.
(Refills only) Call the Prescriptions-By-Mail program at 1-800-391-9701.
