My husband is a direct descendant of A M Hersman and Elizabeth Ann Stalnaker. They were marri ed on 25 Dec 1879. Elizabeth died 17 August 1895. Family history tells that A M Hersman fathe red an illigitimate son by one of Elizabeth's sisters, who was taking care of Elizabeth at th e time. While we know his name of record to be Thomas Albert Hersman and birth date of recor d to be 4/13/1897, there is no record of his birth or mother's name that we can find. Thoma s Albert (known as Al) died in 1992. It is possible he was actually born in 1896 and register ed in the last name of his mother's husband. Can anyone shed some light on who the mother mig ht have been?
