Notes: Biography: Mark Hersman, fifth child and second son of Christopher and Margaret Hersman, wa s born August 11, 1790, probably at the homestead at the fork of Beaver Run. He married Mar y "Polly" Kiger, and they moved to Hacker's Creek, Lewis County VA (WV), where they reared 1 1 children. Mark is described as "an exponent of farm industry in Ohio and West Virgina"(Amer ican Historical Society "History of West Virginia", vol. 3, p. 433).He became a Methodist Epi scopal minister and was a charter member of the Old Harmony M.E. Church on Hacker's Creek, wh ich reorganized in October1829, to become the 'mother church' of Methodist Protestantism in W estVirginia. He later transferred his membership to the new Berlin Church, closer to his home . He was also indicted by the first grand jury to sit in Lewis County for assault and battery . Buried Hebron Cemetery.Margaret Ann, Rachel, and John B. Morrison, who married three of th e Hersman children, were brother and sisters.

BURIAL: Was not able to find his grave in the Hebron cemetery at Speed.
