Dr. Thomsen is a licensed psychologist who helps individuals and families learn new ways to maintain and
improve their mental and emotional health in facing life’s stresses. He specializes in psychotherapy and assessment
with children, adolescents, couples and families. A native of the Pacific Northwest,
he is also a husband and father. He earned his Ph.D. at Southern Illinois University and is a member of the American
Psychological Association. Dr. Thomsen is a Certified Gottman Method Couples Therapist, has a primary certificate in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and has training in hypnotherapy as well. Areas of expertise include:
· Adjustment
to family stresses, including blended family issues and high conflict divorce
· Depression,
anxiety, stress and self-esteem issues
· Children with
behavioral, impulse control and attention problems (ADHD/ADD)
· Anger-related
issues including aggression and defiance
