The Quantum Runner is a new, innovative lever propelled wheelchair. It provides forward propulsion with the push “and” pull of its levers. This ergo-correct positioning allows you to sit upright, and change gears depending on the power needed.

Lever wheelchairs are not new. Many have been designed and patented in the past. However, the “Quantum Runner” includes many features unmatched by the competitors.

One innovation is the forward positioning of the lever. Placing the lever’s pivot point in front of the rear wheel reduces shoulder and wrist strains. Long term, this reduces joint damage and increases overall strength making it ideal for physically therapy or muscle conditioning.

The Quantum Runner’s lever also acts in “both” the push and pull strokes. When you push the lever forward, the rear wheel is propelled forward… and when you pull the lever back, the rear wheel is propelled forward. This push-pull action works the chest and back muscles evenly. Studies show that injuries caused by conventional manual wheelchairs are often related to an imbalance in the muscle structures surrounding the shoulder and wrist joints. The Quantum Runner will reduce or eliminate these problems.

In addition, 4-speed automatic shifting makes the chair fun and easy to use. When going up-hill or over rough terrain, the chair automatically gears down. When running down the street or at higher speeds, the chair automatically gears up. This intelligent shifting system takes away the guesswork.

Finally, disc brakes are unique to the “Quantum Runner”. These brakes make a fun and safe way for turning and stopping. When turning, one lever brake is applied while the other lever is push-pulled. Also, rolling down hills is extremely dangerous for conventional chair users. Grasping a moving hand rim at the wheel can cause serious injury, and disc brakes eliminate this risk.
