Cove Beach is about 5 miles south of Cannon Beach, west of Hwy 101. As you drive south from Cannon Beach,
you will pass through the Arch Cape Tunnel and emerge to a stunning viewpoint overlooking Cove Beach.
Cove Beach is very private and is only shared by a few dozen homes. The beach is only a short 2 minute walk
from the house.
Cove Beach is one of the more unusual spots on the Oregon Coast. The shore slopes to the ocean with
large, polished cobblestones that run most of the shoreline. It’s a rare sight to see. Sometimes
the slope is carved into odd tiers, sometimes sloping gradually, sometimes steep. At high-tide the ocean crashes loudly
onto the steep cobblestone shore, then makes an unusual clattering sound as the waves recede and pull
on the rocks.
The cobblestone slope leading down to a sandy beach. Depending on tide conditions, at low-tide there’s usually ample
beach showing to walk on. The beach is flanked by an outcropping of large rocks at each end, is about 2 miles
in length and rarely occupied. During the summer months a wide beach emerges for recreation during low-tide, sometimes you
can walk around the rock outcropping at the north end to the neighboring beach, Arch Cape. Cliffs, mysterious
cove areas and tide pools can be seen. On the south end, large boulders and tide pools occupy the shore.
Two large island rocks sit just offshore, making for a beautiful view from both the beach and house.
North of the home, you will see a pond as well, that is filled with driftwood. This is perhaps one of the
most hidden spots on Oregon’s entire coast, with very few knowing of its existence. Please be courteous and
polite when staying in our quiet neighborhood.
