Established in 2004, Coho Farms, home of Coho Catahoulas, began with two simple goals; to support small family farms and to enjoy sustainable rural living.

Initially we raised and bred pygmy goats to clear land for fencing, pasture and crops.  The land is mostly cleared but the pygmies will forever remain a part of our farm.  We now raise show quality pygmy goats.  We also raise chickens (for eggs and meat) and honeybees (honey, candles, etc).  Please e-mail for availability if interested in any of our products.

After our goat venture, we decided we needed a herding dog.  I had previously lived in Louisiana and had fallen in love with the Catahoula Leopard dog.  That seemed like a logical choice for our farm.  We selected a beautiful and even tempered girl from lines with good conformation and could not have asked for a better dog.  Maddie has proven her worth time and again by naturally herding goats, herding sheep, treeing a raccoon, training horses to load in trailers, heeling on the trails perfectly with my horse, and winning Best in Breed at her first three UKC shows.  I have high hopes for her and her pups.  Her partner, Beignet "Ben" was selected from lines that trace back to Headhunter's Jasper.  While Ben loves the farm life, he's a bit more suited to life on the couch right now.  Nothing phases this guy but he's a good tracker and all around family dog and should pass that easy going attitude on to his progeny.

Our first catahoula litter has moved to their new homes.  While we intend to keep this a small operation, we plan to have only one litter per year and will only breed if we deem our dogs to be in optimal health.  This should give us and our dogs plenty of time to recover.  Our next litter is planned for late summer/early fall of 2010.  All pups come with a health guarantee, and will be up-to-date on shots and deworming.  Please e-mail or call to be placed on a waiting list.

We hope you'll find the information you need on this site about our farm and the products and services we provide. We look forward to working with you.
