Donald B. Reagan. "Martin Shultz, third son of Valentine and Maria Eva Stocker Shultz, was born 1740 in Manchester Township, Lancaster County (now York County), Pennsylvania. Martin's full birth date was not found in the church records. but, the Orphans Court records and marriage records identifies him as the son of late Valentine Shultz.

Based on the minutes of the Orphans Court for York County, Pennsylvania, Martin apparently was apprenticed to a cordwainer to learn the art of shoemaking. He cmoirnnuptelse.tedhis apprenticeship and identifies himsetf as a cordwainer in later court Martin Shultz was married on Tuesday, 28 July 1761 to Julianna Stentz, daughter of Heinrich and Maria Dorothea Bossert Stentz, at Christ Lutheran Church in the town of York, York County, Pennsylvania. Julianna was born 1745 in Hellam Township, Lancaster County (now York County), Pennsylvania."

2Donald B. Reagan, Early History of Doctor Martin Shultz and Julianna Stentz, p.1. "Johan Velten Shultz the immigrant ancestor of the Shultz, Shults and Shoults families in Sevier County, Tennessee is Valentine Shultz. He was born before 1710 probably in northern Germany according to family tradition. No data has been found on his birthdate, birthplace or his parents, but the research is continuing. During his youth in Northern Germany, he learned the art of farming, and it continued to be his lifetime Occupation.

It is believed that Valentine Shultz was married in Germany circa 1728 to a woman named Elizabeth. No data on her maiden name and her parents has been found. Elizabeth was born circa 1711 probably in northern Germany.

Valentine Shultz, his wife Elizabeth, and his brother and sister—in—law,Hans Martin and Catharina Shultz, traveled to Rotterdam, Holland from northern Germany. Here they boarded the ship "Pennsilvania Merchant" at Rotterdam, Holland and then traveled to Dover, England for the trip to America prior to Monday, 10 September 1731. On this day, they arrived in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania according to the ship lists.

Shortly after their arrival, the group traveled to the "frontier" on the west side of Susquehanna River in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Today, this is in York County, Pennsylvania.

Apparently Valentine's first wife Elizabeth died at the birth of their son, Heinrich Shultz in Lancaster County (now York County), Pennsylvania circa June 1735.

Soon after this, Valentine was married on Sunday, 16 October 1735 to Maria Eva Stocker, daughter of Peter and Anna Stocker, in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Maria Eva was born circa 1716 probably in Switzerland."

3Donald B. Reagan, Early History of Doctor Martin Shultz and Julianna Stentz, p.9. "The Stocker family is probably of Swiss origin. The immigrant ancestor of the Stocker family in Lancaster and York Counties, Pennsylvania was Peter Stocker. he was born circa 1680 probably in Switzerland. Nodata has been found on his birthdate, birthplace or his parents.

Peter Stocker was married probably in Switzerland or Germany circa 1701 to a woman named Anna. No other data on her has been found. Anna was born circa 1689 probably in Switzerland.

Peter Stocker, his wife Anna and their two daughters, Maria and Barbara traveled from Switzerland or Germany to Holland. Here they boarded the ship "Charming Betty" and traveled to London, England for the trip to America in 1733. On Sunday, 11 October 1733, they arrived in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania according to the ship lists. While waiting to clear with the colonial government officials there, they took the oath of allegiance to the British Crown and the Province of Pennsylvania on Monday, 12 October 1733.

Shortly after their arrival, he and his family traveled to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This is where one of their unmarried daughters was married. Nothing else has been found about Peter Stacker and his wife Anna. It is assumed that they died in Lancaster and/or York Counties, Pennsylvania."
