"Moncrief, Ernest February 18, 1916 - June 27, 2002 Ernest Moncrief, age 86, of Irvine, passed away on Thursday, June 27, in Kindred Hospital, Westminster. He was born February 18, 1916, in Reedley, California. He was the eldest of two children born to Ray and Beatrice Moncrief. He grew up in the Reedley/Orosi/Fresno area and graduated Orosi High School in 1933. He then attended the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1937. He retired after serving for 47 years at the Fluor Corporation. Fluor retained him in 1937 as a Cooling Tower Design Engineer. In 1948 he started the Gas and Gasoline Division for Fluor in Houston, Texas. After numerous job promotions and transfers throughout the Western Hemisphere, Fluor appointed him Group Vice-President and member of the Board of Directors. His assignments over this period included supervision of operations for Fluor Engineers and Constructors, Inc.'s Western Hemisphere offices, and Senior Vice-President/General Manager of the Houston Division operation. His proudest achievement in his life was his family. He is survived by his son Philip and wife Cheryl of Houston, Texas; his daughter Ellen of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren Emily and Elizabeth Moncrief of Denver, Colorado; Vicki Hassman and husband Brian of Irvine; Tracy Mounts and husband Kevin; and great-grandchildren Matthew Bricker Mounts, Nicolas Mounts, and Sabrina Mounts of Moss Beach, California. He also is survived by many loving nieces and numerous close friends, all of whom reside in various areas in Southern and Northern California. He enjoyed Sunday dinners with his granddaughter Vicki and husband Brian; spending time with his family at their vacation home in Vail, Colorado; taking walks in the park; and trout fishing, particularly at Lee's Ferry in Arizona. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Orange County, 2540 North Santiago Boulevard, Orange, California, 92867, in memory of Ernest Moncrief.

BERNICE WILMA HARVEY MONCRIEF passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006. Bernice was born October 11, 1916 in Clinton, Missouri. Her parents were Ike Harvey and Ora McCowan Harvey. She married Ernest Moncrief in 1942 and they were married for 34 years. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Moncrief, her granddaughters Elizabeth and Emily Moncrief, her son Philip Moncrief and wife Cheryl, granddaughter Tracy Mounts and husband Kevin, great-grandchildren Sabrina, Nick and Matt Mounts and granddaughter Vicki Hassman and husband Brian. Bernice spent many years in volunteer service, helping to found the University of Houston Home Economics Scholarship Group, as Director of Volunteers at Rosewood Hospital and she founded and was Chairman of the Houston Hospice. She often opened her home to severely ill cancer patients, many from outside the United States. Bernice was very active in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and was instrumental in obtaining donations for auction to aid charities. She also served as Chairman of the Board of the Latino Learning Center. She was an avid orchid and African Violet grower and served as an international judge for African Violets. In 1994 Bernice was honored as a Houston Pioneer Woman and Today Leader by the Houston Women's Club. Donations in her honor should be made to the Houston Hospice.
