Among the early settlers of Watertown were John and George Lawrence. John Lawrence, a carpenter, settled there early in 1636, and was admitted a freeman March 9, 1636-37. He married first, Elizabeth; second, Susanna ;he had twelve children by his first wife and two by his second wife. In 1662 he probably removed to Groton, Massachusetts. John and George were probably nearly related, possibly father and son, and it is from the latter that the families of Watertown, Waltham and Weston by this name are descended.

(I) George Lawrence was born in 1637,died March 21, 1708-09; his will was dated 1707. He married first, Elizabeth Crispe, born January 8, 1636-37, daughter of Benjamin and Bridget Crispe, of Watertown; she died May 28, 1681. He married second, August 16. 1691, Elizabeth Holland. Children: 1. Elizabeth, born January 30, 1658, married, October 18. 1681, Thomas Whitney. born August 24, 1656, died September 20, 1719. 2. Judith, born May 12, 1660. married, about 1681, John Stearns. 3. Hannah, born March 24, 1661-62. married Obadiah Sawtel, of Groton. 4. John, born March 25, 1664. killed June 15, 1674, by being run over by a load of bricks. 5. Benjamin, born May 2, 1666, married Anna Adams Coolidge. 6. Daniel, twin of Benjamin, was living in Charlestown in 1708. 7. George, see forward. 8."Sarah, married Thomas Rider. 9. Mary, born December 4, 1671, married, April 5, 1689, John Earl, of Boston. 10. Martha, married, November 29, 1697, John Dix, born March 6, 1672-73. 11. Grace, born June 3, 1680, married Edes, of Charlestown. 12. Joseph. 13. Rachel. born July 14, 1694. 14. Patience, twin of Rachel.

Nathaniel Bright [Parents] 1 was born 1 on 5 Mar 1647. He died 1 on 11 May 1726. Nathaniel married 1 Mary Coolidge on 26 Jul 1681.

Nathaniel Bright, second son and seventh child of Deacon Henrie and Anna (Gouldstone) Bright, was born March 5, 1647. He was proprietor of a tanyard in the northern part of Watertown, in addition to the homestead, and on his death, May 11, 1726, the homestead, . under his will, went to his brother Henry. Nathaniel Bright was married July 26, 1681, to Mary, daughter of Samuel and Hannah (Barron) Coolidge, and granddaughter of Ellis Barron, of Watertown, and they had ten children born between the years 1682 and 1698. Of these, Mary married Deacon Thomas Livermore, of Waltham, in 1704; Henry married Margaret Jackson, of Newton; John married Rebecca Wain; Joseph married Elizabeth Elliot; Hannah married Jonas Bond; Abigail married John Brown: Mercy married John Coolidge, 1726. Mary Coolidge [Parents] was born 1 on 11 Dec 1660. Mary married 2 Nathaniel Bright 2 on 26 Jul 1681.

Samuel Livermore [Parents] 1, 2 was born on 11 May 1640 in New Haven. He was christened 3 on 15 Aug 1641. He died 2 on 5 Dec 1690 in Watertown, Massachusetts. Samuel married Hannah Bridge on 4 Jun 1668.

Samuel Livermore, son of John Livermore, was born in New Haven, May 11, 1640, died at Watertown, December 5, 1690. He was about ten years old when the family moved from New Haven to Watertown. He was a maltster by trade, having a grist mill on Chester Brook, on land granted his father by the Plymouth Company. He was made freeman, May 31, 1671. In 1677 he was surveyor, in 1679 tythingman, and in 1684 and 1690 was selectman.. He received money from the town several times for killing destructive birds and animals. He married, June 4, 1668, in Watertown. Anna (Hannah) Bridge, daughter of Matthew and Anna (Danforth) Bridge, of Cambridge. She was born about 1646-47, died at Watertown, August 28, 1727. She married (second) Oliver Wellington. Hannah Bridge [Parents] was born 1 in 1646/1647. She died 2 on 28 Aug 1727 in Watertown, Massachusetts. Hannah married Samuel Livermore 1, 2 on 4 Jun 1668.

  M i Deacon Thomas Livermore was born on 5/5 Jan 1675/1677. He died on 8 May 1761.

John Livermore [Parents] was christened 1 on 30 Sep 1604 in Little Thurloe, County Suffolk, England. He died 2 on 14 Apr 1684. John married Grace Sherman 2.

Baptized at Little Thurloe September 30th, 1604. He embarked in April, 1634, from Ipswich in the "Francis," John Cutting master. His wife, Grace, was the daughter of Edmond Sherman, of Dedham, County Suffolk, England, who was born in 1595 and came to New England in 1634. She followed her husband to America with their daughter Hannah (born 1633). John Livermore moved to Watertown, Mass., in 1639, thence to Wethersfield, Conn., where he owned land in 1640; thence back to Watertown. He was freeman in 1635, and was frequently selectman. He died at Watertown April 4th, 1682, aged 78. His wife, Grace, died in 1690. They had nine children.

John Livermore, the immigrant ancestor, was born in England, and sailed from the port of Ipswich in April, 1634, at the age of twentyeight, in the ship "Francis." He married Grace Sherman, daughter of Edmund and Grace (Makin) Sherman, of Dedham and Colchester, county Essex, England. Her father also came in 1634, and he died at New Haven, Connecticut, in 1641. John Livermore was admitted a freeman, May 6, 1636. In the same year he went to Wethersfield, Connecticut, and in 1638-39 he was one of the original settlers of New Haven, Connecticut, and signed the fundamental agreement. His home lot was on the west side of Fleet street, next but one to the harbor. He was a potter by trade. He became a prominent citizen and held the office of selectman and other offices; he was admitted freeman, October 29, 1640, and took the oath of fidelity, July 1, 1644. He was corporal of the New Haven company in 1646, resigning in 1647, because he expected to go to England. He returned to Watertown, Massachusetts, where he was on jury duty in July, 1653. He owned two acres on the east side of Fresh Fond and other lands in Watertown; was constable there in 1654, and for several years afterward; selectman in 1656-57-58-59, and on the prudential committee in 1668. He died April 14, 1684, aged seventy-eight years. His will was proved June 16, 1684. His wife Grace was a midwife. She died at Chelmsford, Massachusetts, January 14, 1691, aged seventy-five years. Her will was dated December 19, 1690, and proved in June, 1691. Children: Hannah, born 1633; Elizabeth; Sarah; John, born 1638; Samuel, mentioned below; Nathaniel; Daniel, baptized at New Haven, October 7, 1643; Mary, baptized at New Haven, September 12, 1647; Edmund, born at Watertown, March 8, 1659; Martha.

Grace Sherman [Parents] 1 was born about 1615. She died 1 on 14 Jan 1691 in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Grace married John Livermore.

  M i Samuel Livermore was born on 11 May 1640. He died on 5 Dec 1690.

Matthew Bridge [Parents] was born 1 about 1615 in England. He died 1 on 28 Dec 1700. Matthew married Anna Danforth.

Anna Danforth was christened 1 on 3 Sep 1622 in Framlingham, England. She died 1 on 2 Dec 1704. Anna married Matthew Bridge.

Anna, bapt. at Framlingham, Eng., 3 Sept., 1622 ; m. about 1644, Matthew Bridge, of Cambridge; b. in Eng. about 1615 [Mi.] d. 28 Dec, 1700. He was a son of Dea. John Bridge, one of the founders of Cambridge; was a resident of Cambridge till about 1668, when he removed to what is now Lexington, where he became a leading citizen. Memb. Artillery Co. 1643.* His wife survived him and d. 2 Dec, 1704.

Peter Livermore 1 was born 1 in Little Thurloe, County Suffolk, England. He was buried 1 on 16 Nov 1611 in Little Thurloe, County Suffolk, England. Peter married 1 Marabella Wysbyck on 5 Jun 1594.
