EARNEY: Sallye Kelly Earney (died abt 1996), 80, of Las Cruces, formerly of Lordsburg, was born July 8, 1916, In Hardeman County, Tenn. and passed away Friday at Las Cruces Nursing Center. She married William Lincoln Earney on July 6, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1965. They lived in Tennessee until 1955 when they moved their family to Lordsburg. Mrs. Earney taught second grade in the Lordsburg Public Schools until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma1 She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lordsburg and was actively involved in the Lordsburg/Hidalgo County Senior Citizens Center, New Mexico Retired Teachers, American Association of Retired Persons and many local organizations, having served on several executive boards, She is survived by her son, George Thomas Earney Sr., and his wife, LaVon, of San Jose, Calif. her daughter, Nancy Fairchild, and her husband, Les, of Las Cruces; and two stepsons, William L. Earney Jr. of Jackson, Tenn., and Jerry Earney of Louisville, Ky., and their wives and children. She also leaves four grandchildren, George Thomas Earney Jr. of San Andreas, Calif., Shanaja Earney of San Leandro, Calif., Kelley Powless and her husband, Jeffrey, of Decatur, Mich., and Kimberly Fairchild of Shelby Township, Mich.; and one great-granddaughter, Melissa Earney of San Andreas. She is also survived by a brother, George M. Kelley. and his wife, Ann, of Bolivar, Tenn,, and his chi1dren and their families, At Mrs. Earney's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church, Third and High streets in Lordsburg, with Pastor Kevin Phillips officiating. Internment of cremains will take place at a later date.
