Frank V Rice [Parents] was born 1 on 7 Mar 1859 in Roseville, Warren County, Illinois, USA. He died on 20 Sep 1944 in Laurens, Pocahontas County, Iowa, USA. He was buried 2 in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Pocahontas County, Iowa, USA. Frank married Cora Elizabeth Fry.

Funeral services were held at the McKee Funeral Home at one o'clock Friday for Frank V. Rice, who was found dead at his home Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. C. V. Pence officiated at the service. Mrs. Vera Hansen, Mrs. Elmer Schlensig, Harry Lund and Elmer Larson accompanied by Mrs. Mae Clanton sang "Shall We Gather at the River," and "Nearer My God to Thee."
Burial was in the Laurens cemetery with F. G. Taylor, Fred Homuth, Harry Coleman, Ray Mather, Allen Burkholder and A. F. Tutt serving as pall bearers.
Obituary
Frank V. Rice, son of Dr. Samuel B. and Rebecca Rice was born March 7, 1859, at Roseville, Ill., and passed away September 20, 1944 at the age of 85 years, six months and 13 days. (continued on last page)
He came to Prairie City, when a boy of ten and from there to Audubon where he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Elizabeth Fry, October 26, 1887. To this union were born two daughters and one son. They are Mrs. E. J. Strobel and Mrs. George Korrect, Laurens, and Ross V. Rice of Storm Lake.
From Adubon (sic) the family moved to Milford in 1909 and came to Laurens in 1927 where he lived for stome time on a farm near Laurens.
For several years he had run a pop corn stand in Laurens. He was a familiar figure, was always friendly and will be missed greatly.
He is survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Two grandchildren are in the service of their country. One living sister lives at Cashmere, Wash.
Mr. Rice was a member of the Congregational church of Milford. He also had been a member of the Masonic lodge there as well as a member of the K. of P. lodge.

Cora Elizabeth Fry was born on 12 Feb 1866 in Bowling Green Township, Chariton County, Missouri, USA. She died in 1949 in Laurens, Pocahontas County, Iowa, USA. She was buried 1 in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Pocahontas County, Iowa, USA. Cora married Frank V Rice.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Cora Rice Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Rice, 83, were held Sunday afternoon at the McKee funeral home, with interment in the Laurens cemetery. The Rev. A. C. Long officiated at the service. She died Thursday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Korrect.
At the service Mrs. L. J. Green and Mrs. Carl Rochat sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "There Is No Night There". They were accompanied by Mrs. Roy Hopkins, Jr. Pallbearers were Ray Haman, Henry Dahl, Leo Nabor, Albert Convy, S. E. Swanson and Ray Mather.
Two Daughters Here
She is survived by two daughters, Ina (Mrs. E. J. Strobel) and Vera (Mrs. George Korrect), both of Laurens; and a son, Ross, of Storm Lake. Also surviving are two grandsons, ...; two granddaughters, ...; three brothers, W. H. Fry of Marshall, Minn., and J. W. Fry and Robert Fry of Audubon; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Currier and Mrs. Effie Williamson of Audubon and Mrs. Maggie Clark of Milford. She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Mrs. Nellie Bevers of Milford.
Obituary
Cora E. Fry, daughter of John and Jane Fry, was born at Bowling Green, Mo., Feb. 12, 1866, and moved to Audubon county, Iowa, in 1872. She was married to Frank V. Rice Oct. 26, 1887, at Audubon. They moved to Milford in 1910 and to Laurens in 1927. Following the death of her husband in 1944, Mrs. Rice lived with her daughter, Mrs. E. J. Strobel, until 1947, and since then has lived with her other daughter, Mrs. Korrect.
She was a member of the Congregational church in Milford and also of the Order of the Eastern Star, belonging to the ilford chapter for 37 years. She also held membership in the Pythian Sisters and the American Legion Auxiliary of Laurens. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here in 1937.

Samuel Barnabas Rice [Parents] 1 was born 1, 2 on 19 Nov 1817 in Richland County, Ohio, USA. He died on 21 May 1899 in Ross, Audubon County, Iowa, USA. He was buried 3 in Cameron Cemetery, Audubon County, Iowa, USA. Samuel married 3 Rebecca A. Downing in 1842.

Samuel B. Rice, one of the oldest citizens of the county, died at his home in Ross last Sunday, May 21. He was 81 years, 6 months and 3 days old at the time of death, having been born in Richland County, Ohio, November 19, 1817. He was married to Rebecca Downing, December 23, 1842. To this union were born seven children, five of whom are living: Lucelia Snyder of McLean, Nebraska; Mary Luse of Chinock, Montana; Frank and James Rice and Ida Luse of Ross. Deceased was a prominent character of the little village and was highly regarded by all who knew him.

Samuel Rice, an esteemed and respected citizen, passed away Sunday afternoon after an illness of a few days. The funeral services were held from the home of J. F. Luse, Tuesday forenoon, conducted by the Rev. C. H. Miller, and the remains were laid to rest in Cameron Center cemetery. An extended obituary will be given later.

Rebecca A. Downing 1 was born 1, 2 on 3 Sep 1820 in West Virginia, USA. She died on 22 Jan 1905 in Carroll County, Iowa, USA. She was buried 3 in Cameron Cemetery, Audubon County, Iowa, USA. Rebecca married 4 Samuel Barnabas Rice in 1842.

Rebecca resided 5 in 1900 in Leroy, Audubon County, Iowa, USA.

Rebecca A. (Downing) Rice died at the home of her daughter, Ida, Mrs. Jessie Franklin Luse, in Carroll, Iowa, January 22, surrounded by family, including four of her children. One daughter in Montana was not able to get here.

Her body was brought to Ross and laid to rest by the side of her husband in Cameron Center Cemetery, who died May 1899.

Mrs. Rice was born in West Virginia, September 3, 1820 to Samuel and Prudence (Bounds) Downing, and was married to Samuel Barnabas Rice December 23, 1842 in Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Rice lived in Roseville, Illinois for about 10 years before coming to Jasper County, Iowa in 1868 and then to Audubon County, in 1881.

Of this union, seven children were born: Benton, Lucelia, Mary, Frank, James, Ida, and one unknown. Benton died at the age of fifteen, and the unknown child died in infancy.
