You ascend more of the stairs. After several millichrons' worth of climing, you look up and see the stairs fade away into the distance.

A flicker in the light from your lamp draws your attention to it. It seems to be getting dimmer. Another glance at the stairs ahead of you convinces you to turn around before your lamp goes totally dark.
